This course is separated into four modules of learning:

Module One: Safeguarding and Child Protection in Education Overview
This module will include information relating to serious case reviews, understanding the importance of the DSL role and clarifying what children need from us.

Module Two: The Role of the DSL
In this module, we will focus on the classroom as a logical place to start when it comes to promoting reading. We will consider various reading models and strategies to develop a passion for reading for pleasure and the importance of the teacher as a role model.

Module Three: Practicalities of Safeguarding and Child Protection
Module three looks at some practical hints and tips to set you up to be an effective DSL or Deputy DSL by looking at how to manage disclosures, referrals and meetings and ensuring we know how to get the best outcomes possible.

Module Four: Case Study Scenarios
Module four looks at what you have learned about how to assess a safeguarding issue and what options are available to you by watching and listening to sample scenarios.
