Course content
This course is separated into five modules of learning:
Module One: Defining Online Safety
In this module, we will be taking a look at the two main contexts of online safety, home and school, in order to define what online safety means.
Module Two: Four C's of Online Risk
Four Cs of Online Risk: Content, Contact, Conduct & Commerce – In this video, we’re going to have a look at the four Cs. These are categories of risk that allow us to simplify and understand the main risk areas regardless of the technology used.
Module Three: Online Gaming and Safety
In this module, we will take a general look at one of the most popular online activities of children, gaming. This module is not about specific games but predominantly about why children play games, the types of games they play and some of the concerns.
Module Four: Youtube and Other Social Media
In this module, we will consider what is probably the most popular activity of all in terms of number. YouTube is extraordinarily popular with all ages, but as with many other online activities, there are concerns. We will also take a basic look at social media, considering what it is, how it is used by children and young people and a few of the more popular apps.
Module Five: Tips for School Leaders
Managing online safety needs to be approached from a whole school perspective. In this final module, we will take a look at two areas: strategy and curriculum.
