Support for Students With Dyslexia
This course aims to develop your awareness of dyslexia and how it impacts the lives of learners inside and outside the classroom. Dyslexia does not affect intelligence. People of all intellectual abilities can be affected by it. It is, however, a lifelong problem that can present challenges to individuals daily, making everyday tasks challenging.

What you'll learn

You will also explore a range of practical strategies to support learners with dyslexia, helping you to create a more inclusive and effective learning environment.
As educators, we are responsible for the learning of everyone in our classroom. However, it can be challenging without a clear understanding of what living with dyslexia means for our learners and how we can support them by creating a supportive learning environment.
Course content
This course is separated into three modules of learning:
Module One: Understanding Dyslexia
In this module, we will gain an understanding of what dyslexia is, expel some common myths, develop an awareness of the signs and symptoms of dyslexia, and how they can present themselves in the different phases of a person’s life.
Module Two: Dyslexia in Everyday Life
In this module, we will consider the impact dyslexia can have on the everyday lives of individuals. Dyslexia varies from person to person; no two people will have the same set of strengths and weaknesses, which can have a substantial effect on an individual’s day-to-day activities.
Module Three: Dyslexia in Schools and the Classroom
In this module, we will consider the legal role schools and educators play in supporting students with additional learning needs, including dyslexia. We will then explore ways in which we can create a dyslexia-friendly learning environment and look at teaching strategies to support dyslexic learners in the classroom.
